About the Get Outside 8-HourThe Get Outside 8-Hour is at Windsor Castle Park in Smithfield, VA. It's a companion race to the Windsor Castle 10-Hour hosted in June and designed as a chance for you to "Get Outside" rather than stay indoors and cyber shop or continually nibble on leftover Thanksgiving dinner items :-). This course is run in the opposite direction from our June companion race. The days after Thanksgiving are a time where those in the sports and outdoor groups are encouraging people to get outside, stretch your legs, and enjoy nature.
Want to run, but not 8 hours? Try the Mini Go (2 Hours) or Half Go (4 Hours)! We also have a fast 3 mile single loop option!
This is your chance to get in a nice long run or walk on a 3 mile trail (estimated at 150 feet each loop).
The run is hosted through "It's Just A Training Run" and so feel free to come out and race the course to see how many miles you can get or just enjoy time on your feet and getting some nice miles walking and running along with other super cool endurance runners and walkers.
This is a low-key event, however laps will be counted and we'll be keeping track of your miles (chip timed) so go for it!.
We'll have awards for the top finishers and age categories, along with a home-made finisher's medal for all runners.
We will have hydration and a variety of yummy pre-packaged “ultra-type” food items for runners, along with a few other items (hot soup later on in the day, runner item requests). We will not have an aid stations on the course mid-lap (but you don't need it - it's a 3 mile lap.
Runners are able to set up chairs or tents (no larger than 10x10) near the trail.
You can register via the regular 8 Hour registration or the Team Registration (there is NO additional fee for teams). If you are on a team you are required to write down your team captain's name when registering and your team name is optional when registering, but all teams are asked to have a name (family friendly names, please).
